KUALA LUMPUR, February 22 | Innovation product produced by FBKT researcher,
Dr. Mardawani Bt. Mohamad, entitled “K-Biozyme System: Integrated Design of Kenaf Processing and Recovery System” has won the best award and gold medal at Malaysian Technology Expo (MTE). MTE was held at Putra World Trade Center (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur and held for three days from February 20 to February 22. The product won the best award in the agricultural category.

UMK has submitted 14 innovation projects for participation in the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE). The innovative product "K-BioZyme System: Integrated Design of Kenaf Processing and Recovery system" is an integrated system that has been developed for the processing of kenaf bast fibre as well as the recovery system for kenaf retted wastewater. The processing system that has been developed can reduce the processing time while also achieving premium retted fibre. In addition, kenaf retted wastewater is also processed for the recovery system. This integrated system was developed at the LKTN processing centre using the concept of in-situ processing. This developed system is the improvement from the previous system, BioZyme Ultimate Debark Unit (B.U.D.U).

This innovative product is in collaboration with National Kenaf and Tobacco Board (LKTN) and Kenaf Adsorbent Sdn. Bhd. Besides being used for kenaf crops, this integrated system is also ideal for the processing and recovery system for other fibre crops such as hemp, jute and flex.
